As local media reports, the same were detected while the border police officers of the Petea Border Police Sector were conducting an action against illegal migration, AtoZSerwisPlus.ro reports.
Of the 11 foreign nationals caught by the police, ten came from Bangladesh and one from Pakistan and were between 26 and 46 years old. Their intention was to reach the west of Europe through Hungary.
The number of detected illegal migrants by the Romanian police has increased in recent months.
In February of this year, six Afghan citizens were arrested by the Romanian border guards, who were trying to cross the Romanian border to Hungary illegally.
In this regard, the Border Guard also discovered that these persons were between the ages of 17 and 32 and applicants for asylum status in Romania. The same source said that they intended to arrive in Germany without legal travel documents.
In January, the Romanian authorities also revealed that 11 other immigrants were caught trying to cross the border and enter the Schengen area illegally.
The Police also revealed that the 11 detainees were caught at the Nadlac II border crossing hiding in a truck trying to enter Romania illegally.
In addition, the border police noted that the truck driver was transporting three pallets of textiles to Italy. The driver said the migrants were planning to reach Italy and then move to another EU country from there.
As for the nationality of these immigrants, the Romanian authorities revealed that five of them were citizens of Bangladesh, four others were citizens of India and two of them were citizens of Pakistan.
Moreover, in December last year, the Romanian police in Arad arrested around 27 migrants from Bangladesh, Eritrea, Sri Lanka and Pakistan after they tried to cross the border illegally into Hungary, hiding in two trucks loaded with textile fabrics and metal rods.
During the inspection of a truck at the border crossing point Nadlac I (PTF), it was discovered that the truck was driven by a Romanian and that the migrants were hidden in the goods being transported. According to the border police of Arad, after a detailed check of this truck, 17 foreign nationals were discovered in the front part of the cargo cabin.
The group of 17 migrants were then transported to Arad police headquarters for further investigation. The Border Police said they were Bangladeshi and Eritrean nationals aged between 21 and 67.
