858 People, 63 Vehicles and 37 Documents Subject to SIS alerts in Romania Within a Week
The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) has said that in the same period, a total of 63 vehicles and 27 documents were also subject to SIS alerts, AtoZSerwisPlus.ro reports.
The same noted that 647 people were located in Romania, following the exchange of information through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Center.
Police officers in Romania also implemented a total of 18 European arrest warrants, identified 82 persons reported by Schengen countries as having refused entry or stay in this area, and also a total of 282 persons who were wanted to participate in a judicial procedure and 9 persons who were reported as missing by the partners in Schengen countries.
In Romania, a total of 24 documents were taken and 54 vehicles sought by Schengen Zone partners were discovered for either confiscation or as evidence in legal cases.
In addition, international partners identified a total of 211 persons wanted by authorities in Bucharest through information exchange through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Center – General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
Of the total, Romanian police officers chased 32 people with European arrest warrants, while 31 were denied entry and stay in the Schengen Zone by Member States. At the same time, another 23 persons were sought for legal procedures, and seven were reported missing by authorities in Romania. Foreign partners also discovered 13 documents and nine vehicles sought by authorities in Romania, aiming to make them inaccessible or use them as evidence in criminal proceedings.
The number of people subject to SIS alerts remains significant. Previously the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) revealed that for a period between November 10 until November 16, a total of 780 people were subject to SIS alerts.
At the same time, in October, for a period from October 13-19, 758 people were subject to SIS alerts.
The Schengen Information System (SIS) is among the largest databases in the EU, containing more than 40 million alerts related to people and objects, thus permitting authorities to share and manage information related to missing or wanted persons and irregular entry attempts, among others.
